Stunning rare desert plant, classed as a succulent as the water it needs is stored in the chunky stem or caudex. 

Give it a warm, bright spot with plenty of light, and water thoroughly once the compost has fully dried out. Give plenty of water during summer months, and restrict watering almost fully during the winter.
