Aloe vera

A chunky succulent, easy to keep and propagate. Cut stems and strip out the gel for medicinal purposes.

Aloe vera loves bright light, but hates to be in strong sun. North facing windowsills or a little away from South/West facing is best. If the plant gets a red tinge to the leaves, it is getting too much light and is sun stressed. 

Wait until the leaves are a little shrivelled before you water. They like to sit dry for quite a long time. Once the plant is looking dehydrated, give a full soak for a good few hours in order to rehydrate and give enough of a drink to be healthy.
